Romain Dupont and Guillaume Bellon, the duo behind Domaines les Aricoques, began their venture in 2021. In a handful of years they have managed to generate incredible excitement amongst wine lovers. The high school friends took over the farming of a nearly-5-hectare vineyard in Frangy (the locals are dubbed "Frangypans", hence the exuberance behind PAN!) within the Haute-Savoie. After years of training in prestigious wine regions such as the Rhône and New Zealand, they returned to Haute-Savoie to apply their knowledge and raise the quality and notoriety of local wines.
The estate covers 4.80 hectares and is planted with Altesse, Jacquère, Mondeuse and Gamay. Installed on a glacial moraine hill at 450 meters above sea level with a south/southwest exposure, it has been in biological conversion since August 2021. Romain and Guillaume understand that this is essential to produce high-quality wines, especially because of the poor soils that limit yields.
The 2021 vintage marked the return of the PAN wine range! The Rouze, made entirely of Gamay, emphasizes the freshness of the grapes. Grown on the same poor soils, it develops complex flavors of red fruits and spices. The grapes undergo little extraction before fermentation in ovoid tanks, and the inclusion of a few whole bunches adds a spicy and delicate touch. Although its color may be reminiscent of a rosé, it is rich in flavors and very pleasant in the mouth.
