Boutique Wines

When B Cellars’ founders Jim Borsack and Duffy Keys first met at a Fourth of July barbecue in 2002, both executives were exploring new paths in their respective careers. Over a drop of the good stuff, of course, their journeys became intertwined when they discovered that they not only shared the same tastes in wine but were also on parallel missions to acquire vineyard property.

In the spring of 2003, they scrapped their solo endeavors, formed B Cellars, and committed to structuring a first-rate wine company predicated upon two absolute principles: first, to produce exceptional artisan wines, season after season, by employing a multi-vineyard strategy, and second, to develop distinct flavors by blending wines from mutually complementary varietals.

Shortly after B Cellars’ inception, our founders met the third key player, Kirk Venge. Named “One of the Top 20 New Winemakers in the World” by Food & Wine Magazine (October 2005), Kirk brought with him a 37-year wine making legacy via his father, Nils, and a keen understanding of the Napa appellation. A bond was established almost immediately. “With Kirk’s passion for great wine, first-hand knowledge and commitment to excellence, it quickly became apparent that he was the ideal winemaker for B Cellars,” said Jim.

All team members were in concert with the core idea of blending the finest red wines from the Napa Valley Appellation. Kirk Venge was given the mandate to create three proprietary blends of consummate quality each year.

The B Cellars name and logo stand for a commitment to perennial excellence. The letter ‘b’ and the degree symbol º refer to brix, a viticultural term which defines the optimal sugar/alcohol content in grape juice indicating the wine’s potential for greatness.

B Cellars is committed to the artisan approach, creating perfectly balanced and complex wines. We are confident you will enjoy them and be proud to share them with friends and family.

B Cellars

2014 Beckstoffer To Kalon Vineyard

Exhibits a dark seductive ruby color. Playful intermingling of ripe black plum, wild blackberry, cherry compote, dates with vanilla bean extract and brown sugar.

98-100 Points - Robert Parker

What can one say? This looks to be potentially perfect wine. It has dense purple colour, an extraordinary nose of white flowers, creme de cassis, licorice, subtle oak background, forest floor, and spice. The wine is built like a skyscraper, layering incrementally on the palate and has a 50-60 second finish. A killer effort, it will be bottled unfined and unfiltered, so its hard to believe it is not going to fetch the magic three-digit score.

This is a beauty! This is a deep ruby/purple wine with velvety tannins, voluptuous texture, oodles of blueberry and blackberry fruit, as well as licorice and incense. It is full-bodied, lush and a total hedonistic and intellectual turn-on.

96 Points - Robert Parker

This is spectacular Cabernet Sauvignon that offers up cedar wood, blackcurrants, blueberry, incense, and graphite. It is full-bodied, powerful and rich, but with sweet tannin and the 2014 hallmark of suppleness and charm. Quite deep, opulent and stunningly rich, drink it over the next 20 years.
